The exhaust and emissions system helps your engine run cleanly and efficiently and helps convert harmful exhaust into gases that are safer for the environment, and then direct these gases away from your vehicle. Components of the system include the catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, muffler, exhaust pipes, intake and exhaust manifolds, and the charcoal canister. Common Signs of an Exhaust or Emissions Problem: engine misfires, lack of acceleration or power, decrease in fuel efficiency, fuel odors, loud noises when driving, or a check engine light triggered by a failure within the system.
