Friendswood, Texas

About This Location

Ford’s Automotive was a family-owned and operated independent automotive service and repair facility started by Cecil Ford in 1978. His son, Ray Ford, purchased the business in 1981 and served the Friendswood community as the owner and operator for forty years. Across four decades Ray built an exceptional legacy of taking care of customers and their vehicles, often spanning multiple generations. In early 2021, Ray retired and sold Ford’s Automotive to Matthew Schwab, owner of Clutch Automotive. Clutch Automotive considers it an honor to continue the Ford family’s legacy of dependability and service.

Bringing a vibrant fusion of Mexican heritage and Houston hospitality, Hector Mendez has become a cornerstone of the Clutch team. Born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and raised in the Heights area of Houston, Hector’s journey is one of cultural richness and deep community ties. He treasures his childhood memories of traversing the dynamic landscapes between Houston and Matamoros, which have shaped his warm, family-centric worldview. Hector is not just our General Manager; he’s a culinary connoisseur, a melody weaver on his acoustic guitar, and a master of deep, meaningful conversations that often sparkle with movie and music references. His ability to speak Spanish and English fluently allows him to connect with a diverse clientele, ensuring that every interaction at Clutch Automotive is as personal and welcoming as a family gathering. An ardent supporter of the Texans, Hector’s heart beats in sync with the pulse of Houston’s sports scene.
